How do commissions work?
The first step of any commission is discussing what you would like. Please contact me through the email contact form or Etsy. I will work with you to figure out exactly what will be made, the shape, size, colors, and all other details of your commission. After this I give you a quote. Smaller items such as paws, ears, tails, wings, etc. can be paid for through direct checkout in my Etsy store. Larger items like heads, partials, and fullsuits can be put on a payment plan through Paypal. Any quotes given are only valid for 60 days from the date you were given a quote. Pricing may be subject to changes during that time and it will be necessary to resubmit your quote request after that period expires.

I do not make fursuits of licensed characters or character designs taken from art found online because that is character stealing. However designs inspired by licensed characters or cosplay part commissions such as character accurate wings, ears, etc. are welcome! Please have a proper reference of your character before getting a quote. It is best to have a front, side, and back view in order to create your costume accurately.

If you have a deadline please inform me ahead of time! No deadlines will be guaranteed but I will try my best to finish your items for the date you need them! I will let you know asap if a deadline cannot be met but I will never compromise the quality of my creations to meet a deadline. Great quality is more important than speed!

Is there a wait list?
Yes there is! Since I do not open fursuit commissions often I have a wait list for those who wanrt to wait for an open spot. I only work on one suit at a time so that I can focus on your character fully until they are brought to life!

When a commission slot opens the first person on this list will be contacted. If they do not take the slot I will contact the next person on the list and so on. Being added to the list does not guarantee you a commission spot but I will do my best to work with everyone I can.

Payment plans cannot start until your commission is accepted. Wait time can be a great period to save for the 30% deposit! If you'd like to enter the wait list please contact me and I will get you a price quote and put you on the list!

Is there any type of payment plan available?
Payment plans are available for all purchases over $200. Each plan is created for the individual customer to fit your needs and budget.
All plans must start with a 30% non refundable deposit. The purpose of this deposit is to pay for the cost of materials need to bring your character to life. In cases where material costs are higher than 30% of the total item price the deposit price may be effected. After the initial payment, weekly payments with a minimum of $50 per week will be created using invoices on Paypal. My goal is to make getting your fursuit as convenient and easy as possible! If a payment is missed progress will be put on hold until you are paid up. It is important to pay on time especially if you have a desired completion date!

Payment plans will be created based on your specifications. It is best to have payments set up for the same day and time every week. If you'd like to make a larger payment or pay off the remaining amount at any time just let me know.

Construction of any item will typically begin once the deposit has been made and supplies arrive. Items will not be shipped out to you until all payments including shipping costs have been payed.

How long does it take to create and ship my order?
Smaller items such as ears, tails, handpaws, and wings will be made as quickly as possible while still taking the time to insure proper quality for each item. Even if it's a pair of wolf ears we've made 100+ of we will still make them with the same attention and care as every other pair we've done! That being said some commissions of this type with more complex designs and detail may take a bit longer to complete. Orders can take a couple weeks for small items up to a couple months for bigger creations.
I want you to receive your items as soon as you can but I also want them to be amazing and be high quality. Rushed work is never as good as something an artist gives special time and attention to! These types of orders are usually made in the order they come in with the exception of those which have been requested for a deadline. If you need your items for a certain date please let me know ahead of time so I can make sure it gets there!
Fursuit commissions work a little differently because they are far more complex. When a suit is entirely paid for up front, supplies will be ordered immediately and construction will begin as soon as possible. Suits can take months to create depending on the complexity. Work in progress photos and updates will be given regulary and I will stay in contact throughout the entire process.
Shipping takes about 3 days for most small orders and 7 for larger items such as big wings and fursuits.

What is the return policy?
Returns will be dealt with on a case to case basis. If there is something wrong with an item such as a flaw or damage from shipping, I will normally replace the item as soon as you ship the original back. Shipping costs cannot be refunded once the item is sent.
Items purchased and shipped to you that do not arrive on time for a particular date(such as Halloween or the day of a convention) can be returned and refunded if the package is unopened and the item is unused. Orders placed but not shipped can typically be canceled and refunded at any time if they have not been made yet. If the item is not shipped the shipping cost will also be refunded to you.
Fursuits including heads and partials require a 30% non refundable deposit to cover the cost of supplies. This can not be refunded under any circumstances. I will stay in contact and work with you to make your suit perfect. This means lots of WIP photos so you know exactly whats going on during the creation process! If something isn't just as you'd like please speak up so that I can make alterations in the design before it is finished.
If something is not to your liking I will do everything we can to correct it for you. I want you to be happy!
If complex or drastic design changes are requested in the later stages of creation(Example: Wanting your red character to be blue instead after I've already begun the furring process) a fee may be charged to cover additional material and labor costs. Please know exactly what you want before I begin construction. If you change your character design in any way let me know as soon as possible! Changes of character species will not be excepted as that would result in an entirely different price quote and complete reconstruction of any work that has begun.

How old must someone be to order from The Manic Macaw?
Any purchase from me is treated as a contract between the buyer and the company. Because of this it is necessary for the person placing the order and making payment(s) to be at least 18 years old. This can be verified by your date of birth. Lying about age will result in the order of your suit or other item being canceled and you will lose your deposit. I can make creations for minors with parent or legal guardian permission. Payment must be made by the parent or guardian who is over 18. This permission will be acquired with a permission slip that will be sent to you before any commission is set up. This will need to be printed, read, signed, and mailed back to me or scanned and sent via email.

What about safety?
All of my creations are made with safety in mind. I do my best to insure a good field of vision and great ventilation in every fursuit. With any fursuit there is always impaired peripheral vision. Take care to check your surroundings before and during fursuiting. It is recommended to bring a handler with you while wearing your costume. Make sure to stay hydrated while suiting as well!

I not responsible for your safety or the safety of others around you while wearing my fursuits and costumes or while using any of my other products. However I do care about your safety and well-being. Although it is up to you to make sure you are safe while using my creations I still want to know if you have any safety concerns so that I can better my creations and help keep my awesome clients safe.
